12 days of christmas

i love this time of year! everything about the holidays makes me excited. something about it gets me in the mood to do things that i have never done before... baking new treats, wearing new outfits, and going new places. one of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is "Do It Yourself" crafts. how many of you out there feel the same way? if so you should definitely visit my friend kelly moore's blog. during the first 12 days of christmas she is letting her friends guest post a DIY craft for the holidays. and i posted a nifty little trick on day 2! go and check out her blog(you can even comment on my project), you will not be disappointed.

new/old stuff.

i have recently been scouting for new pieces for my wardrobe in different thrift and antique shops around town. while i do enjoy buying something brand new (that no one has ever displayed around town), there is something incredibly gratifying about finding a hidden treasure buried in an old antique store. here are a few of my treasures that i have come across lately.

//western inspired, embossed leather purse:

//gold chain belt:

//green floral a-line skirt (although this skirt came from anthropologie, not an antique shop, i do think that it has an "old soul" or vintage feel to it):

grandmother's closet.

in case you are wondering... no, i did not steal this little number from my grandmother's closet. i am in love with the tiny, coral floral print placed on a simple, tan backdrop. i must say that this incredible print does remind me a bit of the grandmother's couch, but i think that it was a perfect outfit for celebrating mother's day.

art fest.

the season of festivals is here! i love the idea of a festival. showcasing talents... whether they be painting, drawing, musical, or crafty. one of my favorite things about going to a festival is the care free wardrobe choices. whether you are jamming out at a music fest, or at your local craft festival they do have one thing in common... the summer heat! and because of the heat you need to dress accordingly. here are a few suggestions for finding a festival appropriate outfit from whowhatwear.

// protect your skin with wide brimmed hats and sunscreen.
// being outdoors and tight clothing do not mix. light weight and loose clothing is a much better choice.
// heels are a no-go for any festival

today was a fun day filled with friends, art, and music... at our local art festival. i decided to wear a relaxed fit dress from anthropologie and my aztec beaded sandals from nine west.

daily post.

not much to say today (surprise... surprise), but i will leave you with an outfit post. i am wearing a mossimo dress, vintage skirt (layered), kenneth cole shoes, and vintage belt. i guess that you could say that i have been into "thrifting" lately.

as most of you know, or would at least assume, i love to shop. it's truly one of my favorite things to do. when i've had a rough day and need to clear my mind... i shop. when i've reached a goal that i've set for myself... i shop. when i have any spare time... i shop. some of my favorite places to shop are boutiques in downtown areas. i enjoy walking up and down the sidewalks and entering each shop ready to be blown away by a special piece of clothing or an accessory that can not be found in just any department store. here are a few pictures from my little shopping excursion, and stay tuned for pictures of my latest purchases.

summer shorts.

as the summer months start getting closer and closer to us there are a few things that stay at the front of my mind... drinking lemonade out of a mason jar while reading the latest instyle magazine, soaking up the summer sun, and feminine summer fashion. along with a southern summer comes extreme heat. when this time of year comes a long the last thing that i want to put on my legs is a pair of jeans. i automatically turn to shorts and skirts for comfort in the heat. the great thing about short season this year is all of the girly shorts that different designers have out right now. i have a certain affection for the shorts trend that is in full force this season. there are many shorts that i am crushing over right now.

i just purchased a cute pair of flowered silk shorts from f21. they are so comfortable and extremely feminine, two characteristics that i am looking for in my summer wardrobe.

here are a few summer shorts that i have had my eye on.

this summer instead of just automatically going for a plain jean short... try something with a little more personality.
